The Smoothie Shop collected donations for the KC Ambassadors at an unveiling of its new store
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Lee’s Summit, MO) The Smoothie Shop raised nearly $2,000 during the unveiling of its new store. This new shop represents the culmination of a winter of hard work and acted as a relaunch of the entire company.
Moving forward, it will be offering franchise opportunities to those who want to own a The Smoothie Shop and Supplements Store.
There is at least one thing that has not been changed in the rebrand. The Smoothie Shop is still 100% committed to supporting the Kansas City community. Recently, a friendship between the store’s two owners, Kevin Oldham and Tim Denker, and one of the newest Ambassadors members made up of former Chiefs players including Tamba Hali, paired up to make a difference in the lives of local children.
During the recent store unveiling, 100% of the gratuities raised were donated to the Kansas City Ambassadors. This amazing local organization raises funds, then donates them to other local nonprofits devoted to serving local families and children with important health and educational needs.
The Smoothie Shop Celebration was attended not just by Tamba Hali, but also by fellow Ambassadors John Lohmeyer, Danan Hughes, Larry Marshall, and Dave Lindstrom. According to The Ambassadors, the nearly $2,000 raised by The Smoothie Shop will go to help support the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kansas City organization, provide funds for inner-city reading programs, and offer help to elementary school children in need of dental work.
The Ambassadors’ crucial mission makes the recent pairing with The Smoothie Shop a natural fit. Says Oldham, “We are…focused on helping communities achieve a healthier lifestyle.” The store’s recent collaboration with the Ambassadors helped to achieve Oldham and his fellow owner Tim Denker’s lofty ambitions.
Tamba Hali and the rest of the Kansas City Ambassadors share the same humanitarian ideal. According to John Lohmeyer, the Vice President of the Ambassadors organization, “We carry on the tradition of giving back to our community started by Chiefs Founder Lamar Hunt…We are all volunteers and see firsthand how important it is to help those in need.”
Hali, Lohmeyer, and the rest of the Ambassadors have been serving those in need in the Kansas City area for the past 32 years. Made up of six generations of former players, including some members who played as Texans and other generational players featured in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Ambassadors organization displays an impressive commitment to helping the community.
Members of the Ambassadors have chosen to spend their retirements supporting others, including many families and children with essential health and educational needs. The addition of Tamba Hali to the Ambassadors’ roster should create unique opportunities for the nonprofit. Hali’s appeal to younger generations of Chiefs fans, plus his musical talents and big personality, is already attracting new supporters to the Ambassadors’ mission.
About Kansas City Ambassadors
The Ambassadors are a group of former Kansas City Chiefs players from throughout the club’s history. The Ambassadors have become a recognizable group throughout the NFL and serve as an innovative and worthy asset to the Chiefs Community Caring Team in the Kansas City region and beyond. The Ambassadors are the only group of their kind in the NFL and inductees into the group are hand-picked based on tenure and their willingness to participate in Ambassador outreach events and meetings.
The Kansas City Ambassadors support our community with local scholarship programs, charity golf tournaments and numerous charitable visits and appearances. One of the local organizations that the Ambassadors support is Camp Quality of Greater Kansas City. Camp Quality serves children with cancer and their families by providing year-round programs, experiences and companionship at no cost. Camp Quality promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential. Recently, the Ambassadors held their 21st Annual Ambassadors Golf Classic where funds were raised to send children to Camp Quality.
Another local charity that the Ambassadors have teamed up with is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City. Currently the Ambassadors have over 17 bin locations across KC where you can donate used clothing and household items to benefit the BBBS of Greater Kansas City program.
